Post-Operation Hair Washing
Post-operation hair washing is one of the most crucial steps in the hair transplant process. Therefore, there are certain steps you should follow to ensure the healing process goes smoothly. Gold City Clinic provides details on hair washing in this guide.

Wait for 2 Days After the Operation to Wash Your Hair
Washing your hair immediately after the surgery can harm your hair follicles. Therefore, it is recommended to wait for 2 days or 36-48 hours after the operation before washing your hair. Your first hair wash will be performed at Gold City Clinic, and you will be shown how to wash your hair properly.

Apply Lotion/Foam
You can apply lotion or foam to both the donor and transplanted areas. The use of lotion or foam helps renew skin cells, moisturize, and soften your scabs. Be gentle when applying lotion or foam to the transplanted area. For the first 14 days after the operation, you should apply Panthenol spray to the transplanted area. Panthenol will soothe any discomfort on your skin. If you run out of Panthenol spray, you can continue using Bepanthol. You can stop using lotion and foam once all your scabs have healed.

Be Gentle When Washing Your Hair
Be cautious when shampooing and touching the transplanted area. After applying your shampoo and foaming it up, use your fingertips to apply small vertical strokes to the transplanted area. Do not rub or make circular movements on the area where hair was transplanted. To prevent any infection, gently wash away blood and tissue residue in the donor area. Use antibiotic cream provided for the first 5-7 days only on the donor area; do not apply it to the transplanted area. Your donor area will be healed after 5-7 days.

Use Recommended Shampoos
The shampoos provided by our clinic will help you get rid of scabs and assist in your healing. It’s advisable to consult your doctor before applying a different shampoo. Your doctor will help you choose the right shampoo for your hair.

Rinsing
When rinsing your hair, use lukewarm water, neither too hot nor too cold. It is recommended to rinse your hair in low-pressure warm water, so avoid using a showerhead for the first 14 days after the operation. Instead, you can use a bowl to wash your hair or change the head of your shower.

Drying
The donor and transplanted areas should be dried differently. It is recommended to dry the transplanted area with a paper towel. Gently apply the paper towel to soak up the water without rubbing or disturbing the transplanted grafts. You can use a regular towel for the donor area. It is not recommended to use a hair dryer unless it’s on the cool setting. Allowing your hair to air dry is better for your healing process.
